A CNC Rotary Table Can Offer Faster Parts Creation and More Precision Than the Original Machine Tools
The CNC Rotary Table is basically a drill press or lathe that can be mounted on a stand, similar to a table saw. This rotating type of table can work in various counter bore positions, beveled edges, square cut and other unique techniques. Many applications will require the use of this type of table for the purposes of cutting profiles and many other types of cuts including, but not limited to, architectural profiles, architectural designs and furniture layouts, and many other special types of cuts as well.
The CNC Rotary Table has two different main parts that make it unique, the stand and the motor. The motor is the one that actually does all the work of operating the CNC Rotary Table and will either be a small or large CNC machine. The stand can hold the motor at any given point during operation, while a small counter balance will keep the rotation angle from changing. The CNC Rotary Table has a number of different indexing systems that can be used. A rotary slide, spindle, worm, hydraulic piston, or CNC pushrod is able to raise and lower the various components on the table and move them in the desired direction.
With one time CNC programming, these types of CNC Rotary Table can perform many operations that an operator would have to do manually in a much smaller and more precise way. One time CNC programming will allow the user to program the CNC Rotary Table to perform multiple functions at the same time in a fraction of the amount of time that it would take to program one function after another. For example, one might want to program the CNC Rotary Table to move a certain way each time the machine is started up and running. By one-time programming, the user could program to have the CNC Rotary Table start at the top of the table and move clockwise each time it is turned on, and then move counterclockwise each time it is turned off.
A CNC rotary table can also be controlled via a Programmable Logic Control (PCLC). A computer based system that runs on software that is programmed can be set up with commands that tell the CNC Rotary Table to move in one direction or another based on the data that is entered into the control module. The computerized system can sense a change in the pressure on the actuator attached to the CNC system and program the actuator so that it operates in the direction the user has requested. In addition to the movement of the rotary actuators, this type of system can use other types of motion such as rotation and acceleration as well as other types of movements that are programmable as well.
Using the Programmable Logic Control to program the CNC Rotary Table, users can set up a program for the CNC system to run all of the way through an entire operation until the job is completed. This gives the operator complete control over how long the CNC system runs, how accurately it cuts and what types of finishes it puts on any product that is created. It can be adjusted to run only at precise intervals or allow the operator to program it so that it continuously runs all the way through an entire job. Since the CNC controls are so precise, they are used to create parts that can be used on machines that are so large that human workers cannot operate them.
Using the CNC Rotary Table and the Programmable Logic Control to run the CNC system, operators are able to reduce the amount of manual labor that is required when operating these types of machining centers. This saves companies money, because employees can no longer be counted on to perform the duties needed to keep the machines running. For smaller operations it is also easier for operators to use the CNC to quickly create a variety of parts because they are operating with a much tighter schedule. When the CNC is operating on a schedule, it allows the operator to produce as many parts as needed to finish an operation within a set time frame. The ability to cut to specifications and complete a job quickly is the hallmark of a superior CNC machine. The CNC rotary table may not be able to cut to specifications as well as a more expensive and larger machine, but it certainly can offer businesses more efficiency and reliability than the original 3-axis machine tools.
