CNC or Computer Numerated Control is a modern system of producing high-quality metalworking or cutting services. It is an advancement in machining methodologies which enables machines to perform at a much faster rate than traditional methods. The main advantages of CNC machining are: it provides precise and consistent results; it reduces operator fatigue; and it can be operated from a remote location. All these features make CNC Grinding machines an ideal solution for many metalworking applications. But, as with any machine, there are important safety precautions which must be followed.
CNC stands for Computer Numerated Control, a modern method in which different mechanical and electronics systems are utilized in the CNC machining process. In this case, the machines use hydraulic and pneumatic systems to manipulate all the processes, which are essential in CNC grinding. The result is a CNC machine shop which is faster, stronger and more accurate than traditional manual machining operations. correspondingly, such machines are highly complicated in their setup and control.
When operating CNC machines, it is very important to provide proper coolant lubricant supply to all the machines and pieces. CNC Grinding machine tools consume considerable amount of heat and because of this heat limitation, excessive heat generated by the CNC machines needs to be controlled. This requirement led to the development of different coolant lubricant supply systems for different machines. Depending upon the machine tools, the coolant lubricant must be chosen and distributed according to its viscosity, temperature range and friction value.
Besides lubrication, it is also very important to monitor the performance of the CNC grinders. During the grinding process, it is obvious that CNC cutting tools generate enormous amount of heat. To ensure proper machine cooling, adequate intake and exhaust fans should be installed. The coolant discharge should be sufficient to adequately cool the machine tools, along with preventing over-heating of the surrounding area.
Apart from proper cooling, adequate supply of fresh oil in the CNC grinders should be considered. Merely installing an oil filter is not sufficient as only then the machine can be expected to work effectively. An oil filter should be added periodically between the grinding process to prevent build-up of dirt in the machine. Some of the best manufacturers such as Honda and Bosch manufacture their own oil products specifically intended for CNC grinders. However, these oil products are quite expensive and do not come cheap. Hence, it is recommended that one buys these products from a reputed source so that the cost factor is reduced.
Another factor that needs to be kept in mind while using fully automatic CNC grinders is to avoid the chances of human error. The fully automatic machine should always be operated in a consistent manner. It should not have any such chances and if any such chances take place, it should immediately be brought to the notice of the manufacturer. This will help them to take corrective measures to minimize any damage to the machine and in addition to this, they can easily provide effective customer support.
